Painting on wood and canvas panels, with a composition in mind, I build up the surface with layers of rice paper, watercolor and acrylic paint. This base layer gives energy and sets the tone for the painting.
I continue layering the basic shapes, defining and adding color and shadow, creating intense color, depth and texture. The painting is in a constant state of change, which lets me evolve my ideas with the energy.
Capturing nature and the spirit of place, of the Pacific Northwest, and more specifically my Island which I live and work on. A place where sky, water and land meet and how light is ever changing and moving. My intention is to share the beauty of nature I am blessed to live close to, giving the observer pause, to relax and enjoy peaceful moments.
